KIA ORA MAGAZINE SAYS…

Housed in Lyttelton’s oldest heritage building, with Tokyo-inspired pink neon illuminating the inky-black walls, Super is the sort of effortlessly cool eatery that cities like Melbourne do so well. The Asian fusion menu is full of things you’ll want to eat, though everything is so beautifully presented you’ll likely hesitate for a moment before diving in. Chef Anna Meyerho incorporates Māori kai into many of her dishes – the crispy-soft hāngī kūmara flatbread with karengo butter is incredibly moreish, and her sesame, horopito and fried shallot seasoning takes a bowl of edamame to a whole new level. Super is a cosy bar as well as a bustling restaurant, and the wine list and craft beer selection is as interesting as the food menu. For something different, try the Morally Bankrupt pear cider from North Canterbury small-batch brewer Scoundrels and Rogues.
